Wireless Route Sales Accounting Systems and Services

Our wireless route sales system software currently runs on a Unix based server and uses a SQL and ODBC compliant database. Wireless communication to the route sales system is done from the mobile handheld using an internet browser.

Our application has been designed to run on a handheld using Windows PocketPC because these were the only ruggedized wireless WAN devices available at the time we were doing initial development. Although in theory any wireless WAN device with an internet browser can use our route sales system, the orientation toward PocketPC creates a few limitations.

  • The device must be capable of printing an invoice.
  • Our basic service has been optimised to fit the screen of a PocketPC device.
  • Our basic invoice printing has been formatted to fit a 40-column POS printer.
Since PocketPC devices running WinCE do not have a native printing capability it is essential to use our serial printer interface or that of some third party.

The essentially open design of our wireless route sales application means that:

  • it can run on any device which has any internet browser
  • it can run on any device which can print a web page
  • it can run on any PocketPC device using WinCE 3.0 or higher using our printer interface for the PocketPC serial port
  • we can easily customise an invoice to any format desired
  • we can readily customise the dialogue
  • the stored data can be accessed by any ODBC client with basic SQL capabilities
  • we can run the software on almost any server
  • a single server can support the needs of even the largest company
  • an individual salesman can use our server anywhere in the world where there is wireless WAN access
