Wireless Route Sales Telnet Demo

General

The telnet demo offers you an opportunity to explore the features of the telnet version of our wireless route sales software. The demo will provide you with access to the same features and display a salesman with a handheld device would be using. For a quick overview of the database content you could have a look at our reports interface. Before engaging in a demonstration, it would be a good idea to take a look at some sample screens and tickets with instructions on how to use the software to do the sample transactions. To maintain the database tables you will need authorisation, which we do not normally give out without good reason.

For a demo you will need a telnet client capable of VT100 emulation, and you should have a printer attached and online during the demo for printing receipts. We do not recommned the Microsoft Windows telnet program because its emulation filters out printing commands. Instead we suggest you download one of several telnet clients available on the internet which offer full printing support. An excellent telnet client can be found at www.anzio.com, and it is available for a free trial period.

For security reasons this demo can only be operated by prior arrangement. If you would like to arrange temporary access to the demonstration area please request a username and password for this purpose.

Please note:

  • this demo runs on our server
  • the response rate you get may differ from what you would experience on an actual wireless handheld - a fast dialup connection should respond very similarly to an actual wireless handheld
  • the sales process screen displays are optimised to fit a PocketPC
  • the invoice format is optimised for a 40 column POS printer so that is how it will appear on your printer
  • if you do not have a proper VT100 emulation then receipts will display on your telnet session rather than printing on your printer, and the display will contain control sequences for printer management (the demonstration will otherwise run properly)
  • other people may be using the demo at the same time as you, so there may be gaps in the document sequence, and the settlement may exclude some of your transactions, or include transactions you did not generate
